Málaga, puerto nazarí.

Málaga es una ciudad de las más antiguas de la península Ibérica. En el lugar donde se asienta la ciudad existía un poblamiento bástulo, en base al cual los fenicios fundaron la colonia de Malaka. Tras un período de dominación cartaginesa, Malaka pasó a formar parte de Roma. Tras la caída del imperio romano formó parte del reino visigodo, estuvo bajo dominio bizantino y nuevamente visigodo hasta la llegada del Islam en 711-89 cuando Mālaqa(مالقة) se convirtió

en una ciudad amurallada junto a la que se asentaban los barrios de comerciantes genoveses y las juderías.

Tras la desintegración del califato de Córdoba, fue la capital de diversos reinos taifas hasta la integración en el reino nazarí de Granada del cual formó parte hasta la brutal conquista llevada a cabo por los Reyes Católicos en 1487 cuando esclavizaron y pasaron a cuchillo al a mayor parte de la población.

El desarrollo de la civilización andalusí supuso un nuevo esquema de población, basado en el desarrollo de las ciudades y la proliferación de alquerías en el mundo rural, con un nuevo florecimiento del artesanado y el comercio, así como de una agricultura intensiva con base en el regadío, en contraste con el feudalismo que sufría el resto de Europa.

De esa forma Mālaqa se convirtió en una importante ciudad portuaria rodeada por un recinto amurallado provisto de cinco grandes puertas y con gran cantidad de arrabales y barrios asimismo amurallados, dentro de los que evolucionaban los adarves, salpicados de huertas a orillas del Guadalmedina, y cruzada de este a oeste por una vía que comunicaba al puerto y la fortaleza con el interior del recinto amurallado; junto al recinto, se asentaban los barrios de comerciantes genoveses y las Juderías, de forma independiente del resto de la ciudad.

Precisamente en la judería de la medina de Mālaqa vivió uno de sus hijos más ilustres, el filósofo y poeta judío Solomon Ibn Gabirol, que proclamaría a su ciudad natal como la"Ciudaddel Paraiso", apelativo evocado posteriormente por el nobel Vicente Aleixandre.

En este largo periodo, Mālaqa llegó a alcanzar más de 20.000 habitantes, siendo una de las urbes más densamente pobladas de toda la Península Ibérica. Se conservan la espléndida Alcazaba, la puerta nazarí de las Atarazanas(palabraárabe que procede de Dar-sinaa, casa de la industria, donde fabricaban barcos) y parte de la Judería, entre otros vestigios musulmanes, y se ha recuperado parte de la necrópolis monumental de Yabal Faruh, considerada la mayor de toda Al-Ándalus, con dos mezquitas funerarias y los restos de un panteón musulmán.

Málaga disfrutaba de un comercio pujante con el Magreb. La ciudad contaba con una importantísima industria alfarera, donde se cocían losas y ánforas ornamentales que llegaron a tener reconocimiento en todo el mediterráneo, la denominada loza dorada malagueña. El comercio estaba regulado por el Tratado del buen Gobierno del Zoco, redactado por el malagueño Al-Sagasti.

En 1279-657h., la República de Génova firma una alianza económico-comercial con Muhammad II convirtiendo a Mālaqa en la puerta del reino nazarí y en nexo de unión entre el Mediterráneo, el Atlántico y el Mar del Norte, estableciendo así mismo rutas con el Lejano Oriente.

La población no musulmana constaba de los mozárabes y de una importante minoría judía, así como los cautivos apresados en hechos bélicos, forzados a trabajar en las Atarazanas, dónde se construían navíos para la vigilancia ribereña y el corso, además de una significativa colonia

de comerciantes extranjeros. En el Palacio de la Alcazaba residía el cadí de la ciudad, un príncipe nazarí, como delegado del Sultán, rodeado de secretarios y juristas.

La Mālaqa musulmana cayó el 13 de agosto de 1487-865 h. y los Reyes Católicos entraron en la medina el 19 de agosto. En torno a 15.000 personas fueron reducidas a la esclavitud y el resto fueron mandadas asesinar por Isabel y Fernando.

Málaga sufrió una remodelación urbana muy profunda tras la conquista castellana puesto que la política de los nuevos monarcas se basó en la uniformidad religiosa y cultural. Atrás quedaron los años de pluralidad religiosa de la etapa mudéjar.

Alcazaba de Málaga:

El rey de taifas bereber Badis ben Habús ordenó construir la Alcazaba de Málaga sobre un antiguo recinto amurallado de origen fenicio-púnico usando para su embellecimiento mármoles, columnas y estatuas del teatro romano adyacente.

La Alcazaba es una edificación construida sobre la roca y en la que destaca la armoniosa conjunción de las necesidades defensivas y la serena belleza de sus estancias y jardines interiores. Desde su construcción, se trataba de una fortaleza urbana, con uso político- administrativo como sede del gobierno y aposento para las jerarquías de la ciudad. De los 15.000 metros cuadrados de espacio interior que se conservan en la actualidad, 3.478 son de construcciones que podríamos calificar como civiles, 3.516 de edificaciones de carácter militar y el resto es superficie no edificada.

Traspasando la puerta principal se encuentra el patio de banderas donde se ubicaba la antigua mezquita que tras la conquista se convierte en capilla, además está comunicada con el castillo de Gibralfaro. En los pisos superiores se encuentran los edificios residenciales y administrativos y en la parte más oriental la torre del homenaje y el barrio castrense.

Por lo tanto tiene una estructura similar al a Alhambra pero no tan lujosa.

El edificio actual, obra del arquitecto Joaquín de Rucoba, se construyó entre 1876 y 1879 en el solar donde estuvo un taller naval de origen nazarí, del que sólo se conserva una puerta de mármol y de donde proviene su nombre; atarazana.

We will get an early start and tour in the same direction as the first Muslim allies would travel to Córdoba. On our way we will visit the city of Ronda, within the Mountains North of Málaga where we will be able to pick up on all of the different historical periods of the Iberian Peninsula, and also specifically on the periods of al-Andalus, Islamic Spain. Our tour will take us through the old medina, it's alleyways and walls of this spectacular town, visiting different palaces, expositions, including the famous Hammam of Ronda and secret tunnels in the city.

We will reach Cordoba by the evening and after a brief presentation of the city and hotel check in, we will walk around the Mosque-Cathedral at night. Traditional courtyard tea saloon, night walks in the medina, flamenco show and horse rides are available during our free evening in Cordoba.

Our choice of 3-4 star hotels are located in the city centres of our route. Our choice for in Toledo and was established in 1989. It is a short drive away from the Toledo Town and the nearest station is n/a. The Hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a conference room and a coffee shop. Each tour will require a minimum attendance of 15 participants in order for the offer to be possible. When it is not possible to reach this minimum at any given tour date, we will provide the option of re-scheduling to another date, re-arranging to the private independent travel terms, re-quoting or re-funding to any registered members.Accommodation is included, this at a 3-4 star hotels with breakfast included. Accommodation choices and standard included are given and then confirmed for each individual offer, from hostels or tourist apartments, to 5 star hotels, you may have these revised during the booking process to match your budget or any alternative city order to this Travel Plan proposal, we will append all of your booking vouchers here conveniently after confirmation.

Our standard price is offered per person sharing one double room at the standard selected with one person from your group; triple rooms receive a small discount yet cannot always be guaranteed. Single room upgrades are offered as a supplement upon the double room rate, according to the accommodation standard and type.

Meal bookings are included at our favorite selection of Local Halal Restaurants, you will be able to choose your favorite establishment throughout your time in town. If you don’t want any meals to be booked, please tell us during the booking process.

The monuments included are listed in each package. We usually include the main Islamic Heritage Sites at each city, plus a series of museums or expositions of a particular interest to the historical narration and understanding of each town.

Our Guides are NOT included in our private tours unless chosen specifically within the booking confirmation process.

We have two distinct types of guide. You may like to hire a Local Travel Assisting Guide/Local Muslim Guide from our crew to assist you along with the tour. Official UNESCO World Heritage Guide for a detailed Monument Tour. Again these choices will be option provided throughout the booking process after you request information on any of our tours or holiday escape packages.

Transport & guidance options are offered during the booking process, to make sure you book the adequate service to your own desired standard.

The minimum group size in our private and independent packages start from 1 traveler and over, but will be specified in the ‘Price Terms’ of each offer according to the services included.
